Abstract
We propose that the optical Anderson transition can be observed by studying the coherent backscattering peak near the Ioffe-Regel limit l. We carry out a scaling theory for the line shape of the backscattered peak above and below the transition. The line shape of the peak exhibits a marked change as the disorder increases, being different below and above the transition.
