Abstract

Artificial intelligence (AI) is increasingly embedded in everyday life, making AI literacy, the ability to understand, evaluate, and use AI ethically, a key 21st-century competency. While research has examined AI literacy among various populations, little is known about its development in senior citizens. This study investigated factors associated with AI literacy among 256 Israeli citizens aged 60 and above. Participants completed an online survey including demographic questions, an AI literacy scale, and six subscales from the Artificially Intelligent Device Use Acceptance (AIDUA) model. Results showed that hedonic motivation and willingness to use AI were the strongest positive predictors of AI literacy, while effort expectancy was negatively associated. The findings highlight the importance of these factors in promoting digital inclusion of senior citizens in an AI-driven society.
