Abstract

Dedicated to Ofra Yitzhaki.
Mechanical Microtonal add-on is develop by Ronen Shapira.
This piece is a tribute to Pierre Boulez’s "Notations", centered around the overtone series of a D pitched a quarter tone sharp. The material undergoes a process of anamorphosis through the Lempel–Ziv–Welch algorithm, resulting in a distorted reflection of the original. The notation, inspired by Kurtág’s practice, is chosen for its contextual sensitivity and interpretative flexibility.

Performed by Ofra Yitzhaki.
