Abstract

The thermodynamic factors and dynamic instabilities that drive pattern formation were studied. It was shown precisely how the interplay of topographic size differences between the different types of receptor-ligand complexes and membrane mechanics provides a thermodynamic driving force for the segregation of the different types of receptors and ligands.
