Abstract

A surface-frozen quadrilayer phase was observed using XR and ST measurements. It was found to occur in melts of C18OH+C26OH mixtures for concentrations near φ=0.23. The observed surface phases and transitions were shown to emerge from the topology of the (F, φ, T) space.
