Abstract

The sex pheromone of the citrus mealybug Planococcus citri (Risso), (+)-(1R)-cis-2,2-dimethyl-3-isopropenylcyclobutanemethanol acetate [(+)-cis-planococcyl acetate], is synthesized in four steps from (+)-α-pinene.
