Abstract

A broadband IQ phase imbalance correction technique applied to complex demodulators is presented. The phase correction range of ±5 degrees and accuracy of 0.3 degrees were obtained with 4 bit resolution. The applications of the broadband IQ phase imbalance correction scheme are compensation of the phase errors originated in the LO poly-phase networks and image rejection mixers with image rejection above 40dB. The power consumption of the IQ phase imbalance correction technique 14mW and 20mW were obtained in the 0.7GHz - 4GHz and 4GHz - 6GHz frequency ranges respectively in 0.18μm CMOS technology.
