Abstract
Two compounds, tricin and a related new flavolignan have been isolated from Aegilops ovata L. dispersal units. Evidence leading to assignment of structure of this new compound is presented together with 1H and 13C‐NMR chemical shifts of related model compounds. These phenolics found together in the same plant species with a previously discovered lignan possessing activity as a germination inhibitor, raise the possibility of a new biogenetic link.
