Abstract

A model for envelope tracking and power amplifier sub-system is described to analyze and optimize the power efficiency performance, bandwidth and transmission accuracy of wireless transmitters. The model comprises of baseband layer, a circuit level layer based on transistor level representation and behavioral models and a measurement layer. The importance of an accurate model for optimized the overall efficiency is described. The optimization of the power efficiency of envelope tracking transmission systems was demonstrated for a 10 MHz OFDM signal.
