Abstract

Data envelopment analysis (DEA) is an effective method to evaluate the relative efficiency of decision-making units (DMUs). Most DEA models assume that all inputs and outputs data are exactly known. However, the data cannot be precisely measured in many practical cases. This paper attempts to extend the fundamental DEA model to a fuzzy framework, thus producing a fuzzy DEA model based on credibility measure. Through examples, this paper explains why the credibility measure is used rather than other measures, e.g., possibility measure. Finally, a numerical example is presented to illustrate the effectiveness of the fuzzy DEA model.
