Abstract
This chapter reviews the most commonly employed techniques for the evaluation of the surface potential on biological membranes. The purpose of this presentation is to outline these procedures, to emphasize their respective advantages, and to draw attention to their drawbacks and to possible pitfalls so that the researcher interested in surface potential phenomena will be able to evaluate existing data or be guided in performing experiments in this area.
