Abstract
The aim of this article was to examine the work-family role conflict and the contribution of personal resources, such as optimism and coping strategies, in explaining work self-efficacy among working mothers at the onset of the Iron Swords War. The sample included 182 employed mothers of young children. This quantitative study was conducted through an online survey in November 2023. Of the three coping strategies examined, maintaining routine was the most commonly used, followed by reorganizing work and family roles, and finally, seeking external support. Maintaining routine was the only strategy found to be significantly associated with work self-efficacy. Optimism did not have a direct effect on work self-efficacy; however, an indirect relationship was identified in which optimism contributed to work self-efficacy through the routine maintenance strategy. The article concludes that maintaining routine is the most effective coping strategy for mitigating role conflict in wartime. Beyond its direct contribution, it also facilitates the positive effects of optimism on work self-efficacy. In the context of prolonged conflict, it is recommended that professionals train women to adopt and enhance the use of routine maintenance strategies, as they provide substantial benefits in the work domain.
