Abstract
המאמר מבקש להתחקות אחר יסודות שיטתו של הרב ישועה שמעון חיים עובדיה, כפי שהם משתקפים בפירושו לתורה, מתוך עיון משלים בדרשותיו ולעיתים גם בפסקיו. המאמר דן ברקע החברתי-תרבותי של הפירוש שחיבר "תורה וחיים" ובהשתקפות תפיסותיו בנוגע למעמד הרבנים ומעמד האשה, וכן בנוגע לשינויי נורמות ומנהגים שרווחו בקהילת יהודי צפרו באותה תקופה - בהקשר לגילוח זקן ויחסי נשים וגברים. המאמר דן גם בהתייחסותו לשואה ולסוגיית ההידמות לגויים. סיום המאמר משווה את השקפותיו לתפיסתו של הרב כלפון משה הכהן בהקשר לסוגיות הנדונות.
