Abstract

Jeremiah, "the greatest of the great prophets", stands at the center of this book. The tragic figure of the prophet of wrath, who predicted the destruction of Jerusalem at the hands of the Babylonians, historical and ideological. The author emphasizes the similarities and differences between Jeremiah and key figures such as Moses, the prophet Elijah, and Jesus. The book discusses the historical, political, social and religious background during Jeremiah's time, the people's relationship to the prophet, the trends of the book of Jeremiah and the relationship between them and those in other biblical books, as well as the question of how Jeremiah's character was shaped in the generations after his death.
