Abstract
In the study of Halakha, researchers distinguish between various literary genres of writing and legal creation. One of the most significant yet relatively neglected genres in both Torah scholarship and Jewish studies is the genre of the early Halakhic books by our ancient sages, the Geonim of Babylon. Recent research has provided extensive introductions to this genre, discussed the text of 'Halakhot Pesuqot', analyzed the textual branches of the 'Sheiltot' and 'Halakhot Gedolot', and examined the relationship of 'Halakhot Re'u' as a Hebrew translation of their Aramaic version in 'Halakhot Pesuqot'. Additional works such as 'Halakhot Qetanot','Halakhot Qetuʿot', and others have also been studied. This has laid significant foundational groundwork for future critical editions of works in this genre. In this article, the author aimsto highlight the commonalities between 'Halakhot Pesuqot' and 'Halakhot Gedolot' within a defined literary framework. By examining the laws of Rosh Hashanah, I seek to demonstrate that these works share many similarities, and to some extent, they may edit each other or exhibit a shared editorial range. To the best of my knowledge, this is one of the first studies to go beyond textual research alone and examine these works as designed literary creations, exploring their editorial trends (or, in professional jargon: 'higher criticism') involved in their formation. Of course, this modest study does not propose a comprehensive paradigmatic theory but rather suggests theoretical directions for further research and examination that will become clearer with the production of new editions and a deeper literary analysis of these works in their entirety.
