התרגום שנולד במצרים חצה גבולות והביא את תורת ישראל לעולם ההלניסטי. גלגוליה של אגדת תרגום השבעים חושפים את המתח בין השמירה על שפת הקודש לרצון להביא את דבר ה' אל דוברי שפות אחרות.
