Abstract
העיסוק במתמטיקה כתחום דעת מפתח בילדים הן ידע ומיומנויות מתמטיות והן יכולות חשיבה. בעבודה הפדגוגית בגן הילדים נודעת חשיבות רבה לפיתוח שני היבטים אלה תוך כדי העיסוק במתמטיקה. פיתוח המיומנויות המתמטיות – יכולת ספירה ומנייה, יכולת הוספה של כמות לכמות נתונה ויכולת זיהוי צורות וגופים – נעשה בידי הגננת בדרך שגרה תוך כדי ניצול הזדמנויות בחיי היום-יום בגן. במאמר זה אבקש להבהיר את החשיבות של פיתוח החשיבה המתמטית והשיח המתמטי. המאמר פורסם גם בעלון דע-גן, 10 (תמוז תשע"ז, יולי 2017), עמ' 86-91
