Abstract
The expression “Now is not the time” (ze lo hazman) serves to meta pragmatically order public discourse in Israel. It serves in criticizing and condemning other expressions based on morals and norms, as inappropriate for the present time, thus delaying or avoiding deliberative discussion and restricting the right to communication. Related issues concern communicative rights (entitlements), and counter-uses, where the expression is employed to mark and protest attempts at silencing public political discourse.
