Abstract
Simulation - based Learning in Education will benefit education researchers, teacher educators, and the field of education by laying the theoretical and empirical foundation for the use of the simulation tool in education . It draws on knowledge accumulated through the development of the first center for simulation in education in Israel, HALEV, which was established by the Faculty of Education at Bar - Ilan University in cooperation with the Ministry of Education . Simulation has been used successfully in training in medicine, aviation, and management . HALEV Center pioneered its use in Israel, and designed a teacher - education modelucation, with the aim of enhancing the social - emotional skills of teachers and educators throughout all stages of training and professional development . In this unique experiential learning model, participants face professional actors who replicate real - life conflict situations in filmed interactions, followed by a facilitated video - based debriefing and reflective inquiry process . The program developed by HALEV Center provided the framework for the advancement of additional simulation centers throughout the country . With the welcome expansion and evolution of simulation - based learning models in teacher education and professional development, this book presents timely theoretical and applied knowledge .
