Abstract
The Spanish friar Alonso de Oropesa's mid-15th century treatise "Lumen ad revelationem gentium et gloria plebis Dei Israel..." called on Christians to accept the Conversos as equals, but attacked the Jews as a harmful element in Christian society. Oropesa suggests that Jews should be segregated from Christians, required to wear a special badge, and not be allowed to hold public office or to have business dealings with Christians. His aim was to prevent Conversos from making contact with Jews and returning to Judaism.
