Abstract

The contract of the state, Benjamin Ze'ev Herzl, believed that the Jew must free himself from his "old" identity and build his life as a new person, a free man, who shapes his own destiny. The articles in this book, written by the best researchers in Israel, examine whether the dramatic episodes recorded in the Jewish journey in the 20th century - exile, holocaust, resurrection and sovereignty, teach that justice was with him - whether a choice between an "old Jew" and a "new man" is indeed required, and whether it is possible A combination of both options
