Abstract
The book focuses on the identifications of plants and animals identified by the Maimonides, identifications some of which derive from botanical and zoological information he acquired during his medical training, and some from his knowledge of material culture and daily life in his day. The research shows how his interpretations sometimes reflect local identification traditions, traditions to which he was exposed in the various regions of his life: Spain, North Africa and Egypt.
