This article will deal with identifying a structure or place in SecondTemple period Jerusalem called 'Gad Yon', which is mentioned in theMishnah Zavim (1:5) and in parallel tannaitic sources, both in historicalsources and in the topography and archaeology of Jerusalem. Althoughseveral identifications have been suggested in the past, most did not relateto the literal meaning of the name, and almost none referred to thetraditional interpretation. Using these two tools, in my opinion, allows usto propose an additional identification of 'Gad Yon'. And with the aid oftopography and the urban plan, it is even possible to explain the routedescribed in the Mishnah, which passes from Gad Yon towards theShiloah
