Abstract
This book, the third volume in Professor Dov Schwartz's series on the philosophy of Rabbi Joseph B. Soloveitchik, is devoted to Soloveitchik's reflections on prayer. Rabbi Soloveitchik presents a rich account of the consciousness and experience of prayer, developed through both phenomenological and existentialist perspectives. The experience of prayer guides religious consciousness from existential crisis toward communion with God. His reflections and struggles concerning prayer led him to pursue new insights and horizons of religious thought.
The present volume offers a systematic reading of Rabbi Soloveitchik's writings on the consciousness of prayer. The first part analyzes "Avodah Sheba-Lev" (Worship of the Heart), while the second examines the essay *Reflections on Prayer* together with several related essays. The book traces, step by step, the formation and maturation of Rabbi Soloveitchik's conception of the consciousness of prayer.
