Abstract
סופי ד. וולש וליאת יכניץ בוחנות אספקט סימבולי במיוחד של תהליך הקליטה: החלפת שמות העולים. על סמך ראיונות שערכו עם יוצאי אתיופיה ששמם הפרטי שונה על ידי הרשויות במהלך העלייה (שם שחלקם בחרו לחזור אליו במרוצת הזמן), דנות המחברות בקשר שבין השם הפרטי לבין זהות עצמית וקבוצתית, במיוחד על רקע המשמעות העמוקה של שמות פרטיים בתרבות האתיופית.
