המאמר בוחן את המשמעויות העכשוויות של האשכנזיות באמצעות ניתוח פנומנולוגי הבוחן שיחים אתניים של אשכנזים ושואל איך אנשים שמוצאם מאירופה-אמריקה תופסים את הקטגוריה של אשכנזיות ומייצרים אותה מחדש באמצעות סוגי שיח שונים. (מתוך המאמר)
