Abstract
History of Jewish childhood is a new field in Jewish Studies, and research on it is still very limited. The article demonstrates that historiography of Jewish childhood goes through different stages than historiography of European or American childhood and explores other themes on the basis of other sources. The article argues that the factors causing these differences as well as general unpopularity of the topic in Jewish studies are the specifics of available sources and the influence of Israeli historiography, which pays more attention to “national dimension” than to “local” and less ideological topics like history of childhood, history of everyday life, etc.
