Director of the seeds collection Weiss Lab for Archaeological Botany

Archaeobtanist, plants ecologist and expert on the morphology and anatomy of seeds and fruits.

My main work focuses on the reconstruction of the climate, economy and landscape according to the remains of plants found in the prehistoric sites of the ancient Hula Valley, in particular near the Benot Ya’aqov Bridge. In addition to these prehistoric sites, I published the findings of the seeds and fruits from archeological sites such as Rosh Zayit, Ein Gedi, Ashdod South Coast, Kissufim and others.

As part of my work, I participated in many field studies that require detailed identification and documentation of plant species in a variety of habitats and monitoring of changes in plant composition in response to changes in time and place.

My areas of research and teaching include: archeobotany, applied botany, floristics of Israel, plant ecology in the Land of Israel, evolution of the plant kingdom and plant morphology and anatomy.
