About Me

Dr. Suzy Gruss is a researcher and faculty member at the Salti Institute for Ladino Studies at Bar-Ilan University. Her research interests include various aspects of literature written in Ladino in the modern era. She is currently delving into new fields of research such as comparing Yiddish and Ladino texts, the reflection of the Spanish Civil War in the Jewish-Spanish press in Thessaloniki, and literary texts on the Holocaust of the Balkan Jews. Alongside a long line of articles in Hebrew and Spanish, she has published two books in Spain: The Novels of Yehuda Haim Farahia HaCohen in 2020 and The Novels of Yitzhak Ben-Rubi on the Holocaust in 2024.

Suzy Gruss is a member of the Israeli National Academy of Ladino and an associate member of the Royal Spanish Academy (Académica correspondiente de la Real Academia Española)
