About Me

Full Professor and Clinical Psychologist, Head of the Criminology Department, Bar Ilan University.
Research areas: Immigration, adolescent risk behaviors, mechanisms of risk and resilience, delinquency & substance use, culturally sensitive therapy and interventions

In the past few years my academic work has involved a number of interconnecting areas which I have been exploring both in Israel and in collaboration with international colleagues:

1) Understanding risk and resiliency factors involved in adolescent immigrant well-being, risk behaviors and deviance; I try to understand developmental and ecological factors leading to adolescent involvement in risk. These start from internal processes such as identity and extend out to societal factors such as discrimination and attitudes of the society.

2) Theoretical conceptualization of attitudes toward immigrants and asylum seekers;

4) Theoretical understandings of culturally sensitive clinical work with immigrants and minority groups. As a clinician, I also try to include an understanding of developmental processes and intra-psychological dynamics in my research.
