About Me

Shulamit Michaeli is Professor in the Faculty of Life Sciences and the Nano-Center of Bar-Ilan University in Israel. She is currently the dean of Faculty of Life Sciences. She received her PhD in Microbiology from Tel Aviv University and started her academic career and as an independent PI in 1990 at the Weizmann Institute. She moved to Bar-Ilan University as an Associate Professor in 1999. She was awarded a grant and was the first Howard Hughes Medical Institute in the Middle East (2000-2010). the head of the section in Life Sciences and Medicine at the Israel Science Foundation from 2010. She received numerous prestigious prizes such as Andre Lewoff from the French Academy of Sciences in 1999, the Israel society of Microbiology award in 2005 and the Landau award in Microbiology in 2010. She is a member of the editorial boards of Current genetics and was a member for the International Journal of Parasitology.
