About Me
Prof. Orit Rotem-Mindali is an urban geographer specializing in transportation and environmental policy.
She is Head of the Interdisciplinary school of sustainability and environment at Bar-Ilan University. Orit is the former head of the Department of Environment, Planning and Sustainability (2019-2023). She is co-head of the MA program in Regulation and Environmental Policy.
Orit gained her PhD at The Hebrew University of Jerusalem. Her academic background includes also degrees in Life Science and Environmental Studies (BSc) and Geography and Environmental Management Planning and Policy program (MA) from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. Orit is concentrating on urban geography, mobility and accessibility, spatial behavior aspects and transport policy. In her work Orit is implementing various methodologies including of Geographical Information System and remote sensing.
Orit's research contribution is organized into two main research areas:
Mobility and Accessibility - examining the connections between transportation, spatial behavior, and technology, with an emphasis on individual decision-making and accessibility.
Urban and Environmental Research - exploring urban dynamics, land use, environmental impacts, and policy, with an emphasis on the interrelationship between city and person
