About Me

Mira Barda-Saad is an Associate Professor at the Faculty of Life Sciences of Bar-Ilan University in Israel. She received her PhD in Molecular Immunology (Summa Cum Laude), following a collaborative research at Bar Ilan University and the Weizmann Institute of Science. She performed her first postdoctoral studies at the Weizmann Institute of sciences and the second at the NCI/NIH, Bethesda, MD, USA. She received the Outstanding Fellow Award for Research Excellency (FARE) from the NIH and joined the faculty of Life Sciences at Bar-Ilan University. Her work was recognized by the Israeli Cancer Association as one of the top five studies, and she was awarded the Taubenblatt award for Research Excellence in Biomedicine. Mira Barda-Saad's research focuses on signal transduction mechanisms in immune cells, and specifically on cytoskeletal networks regulating the immune response. Using high-resolution microscopy and cutting edge imaging technologies, she has developed a potential novel therapeutic approach for the primary immunodeficiencies: WAS/XLT. She revealed signaling cascades that lead to actin polymerization and the regulation of immune cell behaviour in health and disease. Prof. Mira Barda-Saad is a member of the editorial boards of Scientific Reports, Nature Publishing group, International Scholarly Research Notices (ISRN), Austin Journal of Clinical Immunology. Since 2012 she is a Committee Member of the Israel Society of Immunology (IIS) and since 2016 she is the president of IIS.
