I was born in Moscow. My first education is biology, that I learned in the Moscow State Unviersity. I have made aliyyah in 1990. I am married to Leah and we have four children

Academic Biographical Information:

Michael Ryzhik is full professor of Medieval Hebrew and Judeo-Italian at the Department of Hebrew and Semitic Languages at Bar-Ilan University. Prof. Ryzhik’s research focuses on Mishnaic and medieval Hebrew, Judeo-Italian and other Jewish languages, and Italian literature in the Middle Ages and during the Renaissance and Baroque periods. He earned his BA and MA in Biology at Moscow State University, continuing MA and PhD studies in Hebrew Language at the Hebrew University and lecturing there before joining Bar-Ilan. He is the recipient of the Y. Kutscher Prize, the Nehemia Aloni Prize, The Vigevani Grant, and then Ben Yehuda Center Grant for the Research of the Hebrew Language.
