Dr. Abu Ras teaches Islamic philosophy in the Middle Ages, and Scouting - Islamic mysticism in the Department of Jewish Philosophy at Bar Ilan University

Dr Khalid Abu Ras, is a researcher at the Kogod Center of the Shalom Hartman Institute. His doctorate is in Islamic studies and Arabic literature from Bar Ilan University. The subject of his doctoral thesis: The Jerusalem Sufi sheikh Muhammad Hashem al-Bahdadi (d. 1995). Dr. Abu Ras serves as a lecturer in Arabic language and literature at Sakhnin College for the training of teaching staff.

Dr. Abu Ras underwent advanced religious education and scout-spiritual initiation by the scout sheikh Muhammad Hashim al-Badadi, and the Sufi sheikh Abd al-Salam Manasra, who is the head of the scout brotherhood of Tariqat al-Salam al-Qadiriya in the north of the country.

In 2023, Dr. Khalid Abu Ras's book was published: The Scout Sheikh of Jerusalem: The Life and Teachings of Sheikh Muhammad Hashem Albadadi - Tel Aviv: Adra. The book was published with the assistance of the Yehoshua Rabinovitz Foundation for the Arts, Tel Aviv (AR) with the support of the Ministry of Culture and Sports
