About Me

Prof. Elisheva Rosman is an Associate Professor in the Department of Political Studies. After completing her doctorate on mediating structures and greedy institutions, she was invited to serve as a visiting professor at the University of Texas at Austin in the Department of Middle Eastern StudiesAfter completing her post-doctorate and returning to Israel, she became a faculty member in the Department of Political Science at Bar-Ilan University. She is also a senior researcher at the Begin-Sadat Center for Strategic Studies (BESA).

Her research focuses on civil-military relations in general and relio-military relations in particular, in Israel and worldwide. Her research projects include: the media image of the combat soldier in Israeli media (with Dr. Zipi Israeli), religious male and female soldiers in the IDF, soldiers in the civilian healthcare system (with Dr. Eran Zadies and Dr.  Jonathan Stanleigh), religious feminism, marriages outside the rabbinate (with Prof. Ruth Halperin-Kaddari), and more. 

Prof. Rosman is a founding member of the Association of Civil-Military Researchers in Israel, and served as a member of the board and member of the audit committee.  She served as Editor-in-chief of IJMNS  (Israeli Journal of Society, Military and National Security) published by the Association of Civil-Military Researchers in collaboration with Maarachot Publishing House (2023-2026). Prof. Rosman serves in various academic roles, including member of the Board of the Association for Israel Studies (AIS) (2021-2025), Head of the Argov Center for the Study of Israel and the Jewish People (2019-2025), Deputy Chair of the Department of Political Science at Bar-Ilan University (2021-2024).
