About Me

Alexander Tesler is a senior faculty member (Associate Professor) at Bar-Ilan University's Faculty of Engineering. He was a Postdoctoral Fellow at Wyss Institute and School of Engineering and Applied Sciences at Harvard University. He received his B.Sc. degree (2004) and M.Sc. degree (2006) in Chemical Engineering from the Technion - Israel Institute of technology. His scientific interest was modeling of Impedance Spectroscopy data using Genetic Programming methods. He completed his Ph.D. (2012) in Chemistry, Department of Materials and Interfaces at Weizmann Institute of Science, Israel, under the supervision of Prof. Israel Rubinstein (Thesis title: Plasmonic Nanostructures Obtained by Thermal Annealing of Percolated Metal Films and Their Application in Bio-Sensing). His dissertation topic was focused on solid state dewetting of noble metals on ceramic substrates and implementation such plasmonic transducers in biological sensing. His current research interests include formation of mechanically durable omniphobic-slippery surfaces for anti chemo- and bio-fouling, anti-icing, corrosion resistance and drag reduction applications.
