About Me

Achia Urbach is a senior lecturer at the Faculty of Life Science, Bar Ilan University, Israel since Oct 2014. Achia did his PhD in Prof Nissim Benvenisty's lab, at the Faculty of Life Science, the Hebrew University, Israel. During his PhD studies Achia demonstrated different strategies to generate models for human genetic disorders using human embryonic stem cells (hESCs), and published the first hESCs based model for genetic disorder. At 2008 Achia moved to the lab of Prof. George Daley at the Harvard Stem Cell Institute and Boston Children's Hospital, for his post-doc. During his post-doc he published one of the first papers that demonstrated the critical differences between hESCs and iPSCs and generated a new model for human pediatric cancer using transgenic mouse.
