The Institute functions as part of the Martin (Szusz) Department of Land of Israel Studies, and serves as the framework for the wide range of archaeological activities carried out under the auspices of Bar Ilan University. There are over ten researchers currently active within the Institute, conducting a wide range of research activities relating to the ancient cultures of the Land of Israel and its environs, both in the field and in laboratories and libraries. A central part of the research activities involves teaching and actively involving students in the ongoing work, and includ several field school excavations.

המכון לארכיאולוגיה באוניברסיטת בר אילן פועל במסגרת המחלקה ללימודי ארץ ישראל וארכיאולוגיה. בראש המכון עומד היום פרופ' אדן-בייביץ דוד. המכון משמש כקורת גג לפעילות הארכיאולוגית הענפה המתרחשת בחסות האוניברסיטה. יש למעלה מעשרה חוקרים הפועלים במסגרת המכון. חוקרים אלו עוסקים במגוון רחב של פעילויות מחקריות אודות התרבויות הקדומות של ארץ ישראל ושכנותיה, הן בשדה והן במעבדות ובספריות. חלק מרכזי של העבודה המחקרית במכון כולל הוראה ושיתוף סטודנטים במחקרים ובעבודה השוטפת, בין השאר במספר חפירות לימודיות.
