The courses in the communication track consider the statistical features of a communication system as well as the design of a system for optimal performance. The course "random processes" provides the required background regarding stochastic processes and the statistical properties of noise appearing in communication systems. The course "digital communication 1" considers optimal encoding as well as optimal detection of digital information. The course "digital communication 2" considers the representation of a ''narrow-band'' waveform in terms of its complex envelope, followed by several equalization techniques to overcome inter-symbol interference. Finally, we address encoding and decoding techniques for convolutional codes. The course "analog communication" considers the encoding of continuous information source and the influence of the receiver's noise on the quality of the reconstructed information. The course "introduction to coding theory" considers algebraic coding methods for improving the reliability of the transmitted digital information.
