Departments and Research Centers (CRIS BIU):

The Faculty of Jewish Studies at Bar-Ilan University is the largest of its kind in the academic world. It offers about 1,500 courses and programs taught by a faculty of 300 members and is divided into 10 departments, a Center for Basic Jewish Studies, 21  research institutes and centers, and 28  chairs.

The department deals with research into and teaching of the oral tradition in its widest sense. . The literature studied includes the legal writings of the Tannaim and Amoraim, as well as Aggadic literature and later rabbinic writing.
The Department of Hebrew Bible is the largest program of Hebrew Bible studies in the World. Our outstanding faculty covers the full-breadth of Hebrew Bible studies.
The Department of Hebrew and Semitic Languages offers courses in Hebrew, other Semitic languages, and Assyriology.
The study of Jewish History is one of the foundation stones of the national identity of the Jewish People as a group, and of the personal identity of the individual member of that nation. The academic research of Jewish history has always been a key part of Judaic Studies.
The Department of Middle Eastern Studies at Bar-Ilan University was founded in 2000 to serve a wide student audience that evinced interest in the Middle East, North Africa, and Central Asia.
Scholars in the Department of Land of Israel Studies and Archaeology engage in inter-disciplinary research into the Land of Israel and its history.
.This is a program for M.A. and Ph.D. studies in the Faculty of Jewish Studies. It is designed for students with averages above 80% in their B.A. or M.A. degrees.
.In its curriculum, the Department of Jewish Literature emphasizes the historical continuum of Hebrew literature, and the textual dialogue among the different periods.
The program in Jewish Art trains art historians and teachers for scholarly, educational and museum work in Israel and beyond. It provides specialized studies in the field of Jewish visual and material .
.The School of Basic Jewish Studies aims to give nearly every student of the university basic knowledge in central topics in Jewish Studies by means of academic courses.
The Multidisciplinary Department of Jewish Studies offer a BA program which allows students to choose classes from the variety of departments within the Faculty. The department also offers the Cramim program for outstanding students, which includes a full tuition scholarship.
