Description
This seminar course, offered to M.Sc. and Ph.D. students in the Life Sciences Faculty, focuses on advanced skills in presenting original research. Emphasis is placed on the effective communication of complex scientific ideas, with particular attention to clarity, structure, and visual design. The initial sessions introduce principles of high level scientific presentation, including narrative construction around hypotheses and results, audience adaptation, and best practices in data visualization. Common challenges in presenting complex datasets and avoiding overloaded or unclear slides are addressed . The course then shifts to a student centered format. Each week, students present their own research thesis and results using a PowerPoint presentation. Presentations are followed by structured peer feedback focusing on methodology, including slide design, logical flow, clarity of data presentation, and effectiveness of delivery.Learning Outcomes:
By the end of the course, students will be able to:
* Present their research clearly and coherently to a scientific audience
* Design effective figures and slides for complex data
* Structure presentations around hypotheses, methods, and results
* Critically evaluate and improve scientific presentation methodology
Assessment:
Based on student presentations and engagement in peer feedback
